trainingTraining Practice

Standish Medical Practice is actively involved in the training of medical students and doctors in GP training. Some of these trainees may be involved in the clinics that you attend. Should you have any reservations regarding their presence during your consultation please let the reception staff or the clinician looking after you know.

As part of doctors' ongoing professional development they are also required to video consultations from time to time. This is to improve consultation skills and the way that we are communicating with our patients. When this is happening in surgery, you will be asked before and after your consultation whether you are happy to be filmed and for the footage to be used for your clinican's training.

Please have no hesitation in declining filming should you wish to and be assured that this will not affect the care you receive. The videotape is subject to the same confidentiality and security as your medical records. The tape will only be seen by doctors or people who are responsible for your care and be used for the purpose of learning and teaching consultation skills.
